This week, Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner saved Tinseltown’s iconic Hollywood sign. The sign sits on land owned by Chicago-based investors that were planning to build a community of high-end houses.  Hefner gave the last $900,000 needed to raise $12.5 million dollars to protect the 138 acres surrounding the sign.

A new report released by the American Lung Association gave Orange County ‘Fs’ in air quality. The LA metropolitan area, which includes Orange County, was ranked the worst in the country for ozone pollution.

The federal government approved the controversial Cape Wind project this week.  The project, located off the Nantucket sound of Massachusetts, is the first offshore wind farm in the U.S. and has sparked much debate between environmentalists, developers and Cape Cod residents.

A team of conservationists has discovered India’s first whale shark. The shark was discovered off the Gujarat coast and can be identified by its unique spots and markings.
